Vacation Time!!

We went on vacation with the family a couple of weeks ago and had a blast.  We went to Portland and stayed the night in a hotel and took the kids swimming.  We were planning to take them to the Zoo but we got rained out so we went to the Omsi instead.  I think they had a good time.  I thought this picture was cute of my baby birds in the nest.

Seth had a picture in this same spot of Haylee and Kyle so we thought it was only right to take another one with Max in it.

Haylee put her hands on the electricity ball and made all her hair stand up, she thought that was pretty cool.

Then she and Seth did a little science experiment together.  Haylee really enjoys the Omsi because she loves to learn.  She has always been eager to learn knew things.

We then went to Sea Side and met up with the rest of the family.  One night we had a bonfire out on the beach.  This is me with my boys.  I love this picture.
We actually had good weather for the Oregan Coast.  We were really lucky and had a good time soaking up some sun.
Seth, Grandpa and Kyle had fun playing in the water together.
I thought this picture was cute.  Three generations of Johnson boys.
Grandpa and Max playing in the water.

Seth decided that since we were having such good weather he would try out boogie boarding.  I thought this was a little crazy because believe me that water is COLD!!!  He wanted me to take a few pictures so he had some proof that he did it.  He never really caught a wave but he sure tried.
Every year we go into town and ride the carousel, Haylee loves it but I could not get Kyle on it.  Maybee next year.
We also went to the aquarium and got to feed some seals and look at really cool fish.  Kyle and I had some fun at the touch tank.

This was cute, they had a little chess board set up so here are brothers playing chess.
This is the family at the beach.  Max was not loving having his feet in that cold water.
This picture sums up Kyle pretty good I thought.  He is such a cutie.  He thinks he is pretty big stuff.
I thought this one was pretty cute too though.  He looks a little bashful.
Kyle and I had a blast playing in the water and running from the waves.  After a little while though he would say let the water get us Mommy.

On our way home we stopped at the falls and took a picture.  It was a great vacation.

Spitting Image!!

As I was looking back at old pictures I found one of Kyle when he was about Max's age and was amazed at how similar they look. If I didn't have the pictures organized I'm not sure I would have known who was who. Can you tell?

Max
Kyle
Well their birthdays are on the same day so they could be twins just two years apart from eachother. Man they look alike. This makes me wonder if he will look the way Kyle does now when he is two.

Easter fun

Here are the little ones all dressed up for easter Sunday. Unfortunately none of them were feeling very good. They all had little colds but we still thought it was important to get dressed up and go to church. Aren't they just adorable.
We had an easter egg hunt out in our backyard. The kids love easter egg hunts. Kyle is pretty proud of himself when he finds the eggs.

The little man Max is getting bigger fast. He was out watching the other kids hunt the eggs. He doesn't like the grass too much. I put him down in it and he cried, he was ok as long as he was standing though.

The part he liked best from his easter basket it seemed was the basket itself. Isn't that just the way it goes sometimes. All these toys and fun stuff in his basket and he is ok with just the basket by itself.

The easter bunny came and visited our kids this year and brought them a lot of fun stuff. They were excited to find all the goodies he had left them Sunday morning. Haylee asked what we leave for the easter bunny since we left Santa cookies and milk, we decided to leave the easter bunny carrots and water. She also wrote him a note and made him a picture.

As we were cleaning out our garage this spring break I came across an old diary I had when I was little and it had a key and a lock. Haylee saw it and thought it was the coolest thing and said "I want one of those," so that is what the easter bunny brought her and she was really excited.

Kyle got a magnadoodle in his easter basket but I think he was mostly interested in the candy.

Kyle made huge strides with the easter bunny in one year. Last year he wouldn't go near the easter bunny and this year he was totally willing to go up to him and give him fives and take a picture. Its amazing the difference a year makes.

Our annual neighborhood easter egg hunt was fun this year.

Kyle loved the roller paint brushes that we got this year they were pretty fun and gave the kids a little something extra to do with the eggs.

To keep Max occupied while we colored our easter eggs we just poured a bunch of plastic eggs on his high chair tray and he had a blast playing with them.

Happy Easter!!

Surgery for Max

I have totally neglected my blog lately and have so much to blog about. I wanted to make sure I blogged about my tough little man though. At the beginning of December we unfortunatley had to take Max to Seattle Childrens Hospital for surgery on his head. The plates in his head fused too soon and they needed to fix this problem so his head and brain are able to develop and grow correctly. It was by far the hardest thing I think I have ever had to do. For some reason I didn't think about things like this when I started having children. It never really occured to me that things could go wrong. I am so thankful that this was a relatively small problem and that we were able to get it fixed. I feel for parents who have worse things going on with their children. I don't think there is anything more difficult or heartwrenching than to see your child in pain and not be able to take the pain away.

Waiting to hand him over to the nurse was hard. I was thankful he fell asleep in my arms because I don't know if I would have been able to do it if he cried. I probably would have just grabbed him and ran the other way. This didn't stop the tears for me though. It was really tough.
I thought he looked pretty brave in his little gown though.

That first night after surgery he spent in ICU. This was hard because he was in a lot of pain and they were not sure how much medicine to give him because the orders from the doctors were mixed up. He was screaming and I was about to murder someone if they didn't get him medicine NOW. I was grateful my Dad was with me, he works in a hospital and knows a little more than I do. Seth and I held him that night all night and tried hard not to move because every little movement hurt him. We switched off every couple hours to take a break.

This is his war wound. It goes to the same spot on the other side of his head. We just tell him that chicks dig scars.

His head got pretty swollen but luckily his eyes never swelled shut. This is him when the swelling just started to go down.

Finally we started to see the old Max come back. It was such a relief to see him smile again.

Ready to go home!!

Say a prayer for me!!

Our precious baby boy will be going to Seattle Childrens Hospital this weekend for surgery on his head. When he was born the plates on his head fused down the middle so he needs surgery to correct this. We are told it is a fairly common thing and the doctors at Seattle childrens are really good and do a lot of these surgeries. We are still very anxious and worried about our little guy and could really use all the prayers and blessings we can get. He is just as sweet and cute as can be he is laughing and playing every day. He is a happy little baby and it breaks my heart that he has to go through this. I will be happy when it is over with and they tell me all went well. But until then say a prayer for my little guy, I'd apprecite it.

Halloween fun!!

Well I have been meaning to post about our halloween for a while now, better late than never I guess. We had a fun halloween this year we went trick or treating with cousins. It was pretty busy with kids everywhere but a lot of fun. Poor Kyle just couldn't keep up with the bigger kids so he had to be carried pretty much the whole time. He had fun though. Here is the gang together ready to head out and gather some candy. Pretty good looking bunch if you ask me.

We had some cute trick or treaters this year. They seem to just get cuter and cuter.

We had a pretty rockin rock star. We put her costume together with just whatever we could find and it was actually a lot of fun. I found anything that had glitter of sparkled and called it good. We found some glitter letters to stick on her pants and spell rock star. We also found some jewels that you could just stick on and we just put these all over her costume. I also got her some fake eye lashes because she wanted them soo bad but when we tried to put them on she didn't like them so that didn't work. She had some sparkley shoes and a sparkley vest and glitter in her hair and everywhere else. I thought she looked pretty good.

As for Max he wasn't goin trick or treating this year so I just got him a little jumper that said little pumpkin on it and kinda looked like a pumpkin he was cute as ever though.

Kyle was the cutest cowboy I think I have ever seen. We weren't sure what to have him be for halloween and it literally came down to the last second. We were going to have him be a football player again this year even though that is what he was last year because everything else we tried failed. He did not want to wear anything that was obviously a costume. I have a dog costume that Haylee wore last year and he did a really good impression of a dog but when it came down to putting this funny looking hair thing over his head he would have no part of that. I also had the idea of making him a cookie and having Seth wear a cookie monster shirt, that way he could be the cookie monster and Kyle could be his cookie. He didn't like that either it might have been because I told him I was going to eat him. Oh well!!! So last minute he was playing upstairs and he had put on this cowboy hat and said gittyup and I thought that is what he should be. So we ran to the store and grabbed a cute little cowboy costume and it worked great because the costume was just like normal clothes to Kyle. And he LOVED that he got to ride on this little horse on a stick. It was a hit.

We had some fun a few days before carving our pumpkins. Haylee has become a pro and carving pumpkins and she dives right in there and gets all the yucky stuff out.

Kyle is another story. He was pretty grossed out that we would even think about touching that stuff and he would have not part of that so he painted a face on his pumpkin instead. He had fun with that.

We were able to go to the pumpkin patch this year with my sister and her kids because they came for a visit. It was really fun and we found some good pumpkins.

Kyle liked this one because it was small enough for him to carry himself.

Even though he sure tried to pick up the big ones. He finally found that they were a little to heavy for him. But I sure loved the faces he made when he would try to pick up the big ones.

We had a good time at the mercantile. They had lots of fun things for the kids to do.

We rode on a hay ride.

We went through the corn maze.

We went to the petting zoo and saw the animals. Kyle loved this he loves animals, he always has. And he has always been really good with animals. He was pretty amazed by all the big animals he got to see and pet.

The kids also ran through the maze of hay. They had fun running through and Haylee was very helpful getting Kyle through. He pretty much just ran behind her and followed her but what are big sisters for right.
